Patricia L. Murray

Committee member and 9th District President. In her Unit, she has served as Second Vice-President and Chairman of the Public Relations, Legislative, Girls State and Constitution and Bylaws Committees.

Volunteering is a family tradition and Patricia is following in the footsteps of her mother, Past Department President Iris Murray and her father, Gordon Murray. A certified volunteer at the VA since 2008, she serves coffee at the VA two Saturdays a month, works yearly in the Auxiliary Gift Shop buying items for veterans gifts, sets up Gift Shops, volunteers at the mobile Gift Shop at McClellan Hospital, serves food at various VA events, serves where the VA needs assistance and makes personal donations to the VA.

In her Unit, Patricia has made and served to local veterans, made gift baskets for Auxiliary members at Christmas and Easter baskets at Easter, participates in the annual garage sale and is working with her post to make improvements to the building. In the community, Patricia has served on the board of the Rob Williams Memorial Golf Tournament (also serving as a volunteer), volunteered for Women and Children First and Special Olympics. Patricia is a member of the 8 and 40 organization where she has served as an officer on the local, state and national level and also serves on national committees. She currently serves as Property Owners Association President for her subdivision.

Dedicated to the American Legion Auxiliary and its mission, she is committed to spreading a spirit of goodwill, equipping our Units and members with needed tools, training and information, and getting back to basics.

We will honor our heros this year, remembering Service Not Self for Veterans, God and Country as we prepare for our centennial celebration during the 2019 – 2020 administrative year.

President Patricia’s eligibility is through her father, Gordon “Grizz” Murray, a U.S. Navy and U. S. Air Force veteran. She is also eligible through her late grandfathers, Homer Murray, a WWII Navy veteran and George Osborn, a WWI Army Veteran and her brother Patrick Murray, an Army veteran. A resident of Bryant, Arkansas, she is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a degree in Business Administration and is a 32-year employee of the U.S. District Court in Little Rock serving various positions including courtroom deputy, court services specialist, operations analyst and current as a relief courtroom deputy.

A 30 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, she has held numerous positions on the state, district and local levels. The state level includes Southeast Divisional Vice-President, Chaplain, Historian, Parliamentarian, Chairman of the Department Convention, Chairman of the Constitution and Bylaws, Auxiliary Emergency Fund, Americanism and Community Service Committees,  Deputy   VAVS  Representative,  State   Convention  Tellers,  Gift  Shop  and  VA&R
