Nancy French - Little Rock Unit 1
A certified volunteer with the VA, Nancy enjoys serving coffee at the Little Rock VA Hospital, volunteering at the Christmas shop and has made and donated over 400 gift bags to the Christmas shop, presented Veteran’s Day Programs at local elementary schools and worked with community groups regarding the needs of veterans. She has secured commitments from groups who have donated money and goods for the VA Adult Day Care Program, the Volunteer Office and the VA’s Women Veterans Program.
Nancy is also an active member and volunteer in a number of professional and social organizations.
Nancy was born and raised in Pennsylvania. A widow, she has four sons (who are all veterans), six grandchildren and five great-grand children.
She attended public schools in Pennsylvania, received a BA in speech communication with a minor in industrial psychology from UALR in Little Rock. Her honors there included being on the Chancellors’ and Dean’s List. She also has numerous hours in both Master’s Programs. She retired from the Department of Education in 2010.
Nancy has been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 2012 and her membership is through her youngest son and includes serving four years as Unit One President and two years as Southwest Area Vice President. She has chaired, co-chaired and/or served on numerous Unit and Department committees including helping to write the Department’s Five Year Centennial Strategic Plan. In addition to being President, Nancy currently serves as Unit One Vice-President and is on the Departments Revitalization Committee. Since July 1, 2018, she has volunteered at the Department office three days a week keeping the office open and providing basic office duties.
